Access to the Shepparton Weir boat ramp was closed to the public by Parks Victoria in the 2000’s due to safety concerns. While there is boating access to the Goulburn River above the weir, there is no formal boating access on the Goulburn River between Shepparton Weir and Loch Garry (approx. 23 kms).
The VFA has commenced design options to re-establish the boat ramp at Shepparton Weir, which will address key safety concerns and return access to a previously popular fishing spot.
Engineers Confluence Group have undertaken a functional review and developed a concept design for future upgrades. Heritage advisors have also commissioned a cultural heritage review of the area to ensure the suitability of future upgrades in a sensitive area.
