Rhyll – Stage 2

The Rhyll boating facility is being upgraded thanks to the State Government’s unprecedented investment in boating in Victoria.

Project Update: May 23, 2022

Work is continuing on a priority upgrade to Rhyll boat ramp.

Located on Phillip Island, Rhyll is popular with people accessing the many great recreational boating and fishing opportunities on offer in Western Port.

Better Boating Victoria is overseeing the government’s boating commitments and is working with Bass Shire Council, local community groups, and the boating community to upgrade the facility.

Demolition of the existing boat ramps and jetties is fully complete.

Piles for the new floating jetties have been installed along with safety buffer piles alongside the ramp.

Concrete abutments have been installed to attach the long gangways connecting the shore and floating pontoons.

Next steps include beginning work on construction of the new ramps.

Works are still on track for a completion date early in Spring 2022, just in time for snapper season.

The final concept design and regular project updates can be viewed at Bass Coast Shire council’s website.

While construction is ongoing, the car park and the boat ramps will be completely closed. There will be no public access throughout the duration of these works. For more information on the ramp and alternative spots to launch such as nearby Newhaven, head to the Boating Vic website or app.
