Improving boating access at Lake Glenmaggie
Better Boating Victoria is working to improve boating facilities at Lake Glenmaggie, a popular inland recreational waterway near Heyfield in Gippsland. The lake is an important destination for fishing, water sports and family boating. These upgrades aim to make it easier, safer and more reliable to get on the water year‑round.
Lake Glenmaggie is a well‑known freshwater fishing destination and has received significant fish stocking in recent years, including Australian bass and rainbow trout
At Lake Glenmaggie, this funding supports:
· Planning and design work to extend an existing boat ramp
· Improving access to the water during low lake levels
· Identifying ramp locations that maintain access to deeper water across seasons
This work is funded through the Better Boating Fund, which reinvests boat registration and marine licence fees back into boating infrastructure for the benefit of Victorian boaters.
