As part of the Victorian Government’s ongoing investment into making it cheaper and easier to get out on the water, works have started to improve access to Blue Rock Lake.
The Blue Rock Lake boat launching facility off Old Tanjil Road is closed with construction works having kicked off. Boaters can launch at the Spillway Road ramp while work is on the go.
The ramp comprises a single deep water stone ramp that gives access to the lake at a range of water levels. The works will deliver a new all abilities access gangway and pontoon and are expected for completion in spring.
The new pontoon will add to the existing infrastructure which, together with the ramp, includes an asphalt square above the ramp that acts as a vehicle turn-around area, and 3 allocated car/trailer parks.
Blue Rock Lake is located in West Gippsland at the base of the Great Dividing Ranges within the Baw Baw Shire Council.
It is a popular fishing destination that has been stocked with over 200,000 fish in 2024 alone, comprising of rainbow and brown trout as well as Australian bass. It is increasingly popular as a bass fishing destination and holds national competitions for the hard-fighting native sportsfish.
