Mornington – Schnapper Point

As part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to improve Mornington Schnapper Point Boat Ramp, plans have been developed to make launching at the popular location easier.

Planning for the project was included in the 2023/2024 Victorian Recreational Boating Action Plan and is part of the Victorian Government’s unprecedented investment in improving boating across the state.

Construction commenced on 16th April 2026. Half of the carpark will close on the 16th April for construction mobilisation, with the remainder of the facility to be closed from Monday 20th April until 30th September 2026. Work has been scheduled to minimise disruption, beginning after the school holidays with completion in time for the 2026/2027 Snapper season.

This exiting upgrade will feature:

  • New jetties to provide more space to tie up and better access to boats.
  • A new widened and lengthened boat ramp to increase launching capacity and ease of use.
  • New concrete manoeuvring area and pedestrian shared area to make navigating the carpark easier for all users.
  • DDA compliant jetties and Hansa hoist to facilitate all abilities access.
