The Red Cliffs Horseshoe Bend Boat Ramp has been upgraded to make getting out onto the Murray River easier.
Thanks to the reinvestment of recreational boating licence and registration fees through the Better Boating Fund, a new concrete boat ramp has been laid down.
The new ramp is wider and steeper than the old ramp making it easier to launch a range of craft.
The grooved surface will provide more traction and in combination with wave action will help clear sediment from the ramp.
Better Boating Victoria worked with ramp manager Parks Victoria to deliver the project.
Contractors from Water Excavations built a large steel cofferdam around the toe of the ramp to keep water out while the old concrete was pulled up and the new surface was poured, creating a longer and wider ramp.
Project Background
The ramp is located along the Murray River south of Mildura. The ramp was identified in the Victorian Recreational Boating Strategy as a site in high need of upgrade.
The ramp is accessible off Barko Road at Iraak. It is expected to be added to the Boating Vic app soon.
