Lake Boga

Upgrades to access at Lake Boga are enabling more recreational boaters to enjoy a day on the water.

Funded by recreational boating licence and registration fees through the Better Boating Fund, upgrades were completed at the Lake Boga boat ramp in 2024.

To improve access for boaters of all abilities and mobility levels, Swan Hill Rural City Council constructed an all-abilities access pontoon at the lake – about 15 minutes drive south of Swan Hill.

Completed in May 2024, project highlights include:

  • A new 14-metre-long gangway, complete with handrails, making the pontoon more accessible at a variety of water levels
  • A wider and longer floating pontoon with cleats to tie up to
  • The existing pontoon relocated to the southern side of the ramp to be used as a fishing platform

Lake Boga is a popular recreational area for water-skiers and fishers alike. The Victorian Fisheries Authority regularly stocks Lake Boga and more than 450,000 Murray cod and golden perch have been released since 2020.

Lake Boga is a popular holiday destination with plenty of camping options along its shoreline, while also being close to the Little Murray and Murray rivers.

The Lake Boga all-abilities upgrade is just one of the projects being undertaken across the state to improve boating access for every Victorian. To find out more about other locations we’ve improved access click here.
