Mornington – Schnapper Point

Detailed designs are being drawn up to improve facilities at Schnapper Point boat ramp.

As part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to improve Mornington Schnapper Point Boat Ramp, plans have been developed to make launching at the popular location easier.

Planning for the project was included in the 2023/2024 Victorian Recreational Boating Action Plan and is part of the Victorian Government’s unprecedented investment in improving boating across the state.

The concept design and public consultation phases have been completed and experienced engineers AW Maritime were awarded the contract to complete the Detailed Design phase.

Key upgrade features include:

  • New finger pontoon on the southern side of the boat ramp to provide more space to tie up and better access to boats
  • New widened and lengthened boat ramp to increase capacity
  • New concrete manoeuvring area and pedestrian crossing to make navigating the carpark easier for all users

The detailed designs will be completed in late 2024 or early 2025, and construction will be undertaken subject to funding.

Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
