Kirk Point

Accessing western Port Phillip is being made easier with construction on the go at Kirk Point boat ramp.

Please note the boat ramp is closed. Facilities remain available at Werribee South Boat Ramp and St Helens. To find nearby places to launch, open or download the FREE Boating Vic app or head to www.boating.vic.gov.au

Project update: August 10

Construction at Kirk Point is really ramping up.

With the old single-lane ramp demolished and a rock breakwater in place, the team from Bridgewater Marine has been laying down these pre-cast concrete panels.

All up there’s 32 panels that will help make the new two-lane ramp far more user friendly than the old one.

Each panel is grooved to reduce any seagrass buildup and the new ramp is steeper so you’re not reversing as far down when launching and retrieving.

The upgrade also includes improved parking, and everything’s running on track.

Regular updates on project progress will be provided here. For more information, please refer to the project flyer which can be accessed by clicking here.

The area is popular with fishers as well as bird watchers within the adjoining wildlife reserve who use the facility for parking.

Parking is a mix of formal and informal parking.

Kirk Point is located close to the offshore Wilson’s Reef rocky reef module.

Construction is underway. More information is available here.
