Upgrades have been completed at the Echuca – Victoria Park boat ramp, thanks in part, to your recreational boating licence and registration fees.
Campaspe Shire Council have completed the five-stage project, with construction funding from the Better Boating Fund and a Universal Design grant from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. Council provided project management funding throughout the project.
The ‘dry’ ramp, which is the top portion of the ramp pavement, was completed successfully in 2023, with the remainder of the works completed between July and November 2024, when the river is typically at its lowest flow.
New concrete was laid down for the ‘wet’ section of the ramp, extending down into the water. Retaining walls up and downstream of the ramp were improved and strengthened to reduce potential erosion and improve safety for boaters launching at the facility.
An all-abilities floating pontoon has also been installed to provide enhanced access for all boaters, regardless of their mobility levels. Large steel piles will help keep the pontoon in place and allow it to rise and fall with the changing water levels.
The pontoon also features a gangway gradient indicator to help people with mobility aids determine whether they require assistance using the gangway.
Landscaping is now complete with the facility boasting heaps of parking, barbecues, a large lawn area, seating and accessible toilets. It caters for boats big and small, from large wakeboats right down to jet skis and tinnies.
