As part of the Victorian Government’s ongoing investment into making it cheaper and easier to get out on the water, Corinella has been identified for a future upgrade.
Corinella is located south-east of Melbourne, sitting on the eastern shore of Western Port within the Bass Coast Shire and the boundaries of the Bunurong Land Council.
Upgrades were completed in 2019, adding two boat ramp lanes, an accessible pontoon and new fish cleaning tables at the facility.
The Corinella boat launching facility comprises of a four-lane boat ramp, a fixed finger jetty and a second fixed jetty connected to a floating pontoon by a gangway.
There is a concrete square above the ramp that acts as a turnaround area. There are 5 derigging lanes and a section for informal boat and trailer parking. A section for informal boat and trailer parking exists to the south, bordered by Smythe Street, Peters Street and The Esplanade.
What’s happening?
Opportunities to improve the all-abilities facilities and create greater car and trailer unit parking capacity with the benefit of better traffic movement are being considered on the western side of the boat ramp. These early concept designs fall within a Ramsar site and require Marine and Coastal Act consent and other approvals. Better Boating Victoria is engaging with the stakeholders to progress these approvals.
Once funding becomes available, BBV will engage with Corinella Foreshore Committee of Management to develop detailed designs.
