As part of the Victorian Government’s ongoing investment into making it cheaper and easier to get out on the water, Corinella has been identified for a future upgrade.
Corinella is located south-east of Melbourne, sitting on the eastern shore of Western Port within the Bass Coast Shire and the boundaries of the Bunurong Land Council.
Upgrades were completed in 2019, adding two boat ramp lanes, an accessible pontoon and new fish cleaning tables at the facility.
The Corinella boat launching facility comprises of a four-lane boat ramp, a fixed finger jetty and a second fixed jetty connected to a floating pontoon by a gangway.
There is a concrete square above the ramp that acts as a turnaround area. There are 5 derigging lanes and a section for informal boat and trailer parking. A section for informal boat and trailer parking exists to the south, bordered by Smythe Street, Peters Street and The Esplanade.
What’s happening?
Following consultation with the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action, opportunities for land reclamation immediately west of the boat ramp have been identified to provide formalised car and trailer parking and improve all-abilities facilities. The upgrade will create greater car and trailer unit capacity and increased efficiency through the use of land reclamation and incremental upgrades of existing infrastructure.
The next steps are to engage with the Corinella Foreshore Committee of Management and conduct public consultation on a concept plan.
