Make your boating easier with free boat trailer launching clinics

Reversing your boat on a busy Saturday can be daunting, even for experienced boaters. That’s why we’re running free boat trailer reversing and launching clinics across Victoria.

Funded by the Better Boating Fund, which reinvests recreational boaters’ licence and registration fees, the clinics offer boaters of all experience levels a chance to practice their trailer reversing skills under the guidance of experts.

Whether you own a boat or not, skilled teachers will provide all the equipment and guide you through launching a boat safely and successfully.

The classes will include:

• An informative overview of launching and retrieving a boat
• Hands-on practice reversing a boat trailer
• A detailed demonstration of how to launch a boat

The sessions will run for 45 minutes and will occur at multiple times throughout the day. Some sessions will be women only, while others will be open to all genders, ensuring a comfortable and supportive learning environment for all participants. Additional women-only events will be delivered by the Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating Network (WIRFAB) to provide more women with skills and confidence to get involved in boating. Participants will be provided the opportunity to obtain their marine licence and participate in a boat familiarisation Q&A session.

The Elwood clinic is intended for women as part of the Victorian Government’s initiative to increase women’s participation in recreational boating. Participation in this clinic is limited to women, as a special measure under section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. By registering for this event, you confirm that you identify as female.
