Lang Lang boat ramp delivered

Local families can now enjoy improved access to Western Port, thanks to an investment by the Victorian Government.

The Government today announced the completion of the Lang Lang boat ramp revamp.

This popular facility now has a new jetty and a new concrete ramp allowing boats to launch, retrieve and tie up with ease.

The existing ramp has been retained for non-powered vessels – reducing congestion at busy times.

The new jetty features space for up to five boats to be tied up, with cleats to secure ropes and fenders to protect vessels temporarily berthed.

The ramp has been built above the surrounding beach to limit erosion and the grooved concrete surface extending into deeper water is now steeper to make sure the vehicles’ rear axle stays dry.

The shallow water and flat seabed of the surrounding area means the new boat ramp will continue to only be used at mid to high tides.

The Lang Lang upgrade is in addition to many recent boating facility improvements around Western Port.

Major upgrades have been completed at Rhyll, Cowes, Corinella, Hastings, Inverloch and Mahers Landing. Construction starts soon for Tooradin’s $2.6 million upgrade, which will see the concrete ramp replaced, three new lanes extending into deeper water, longer pontoons and improved road access.

Planning and design continues for future boat ramp upgrades at both Cannons Creek and Warneet, as well as the restoration of Newhaven Pier to enable pedestrian, land-based fishers and boat access to this iconic asset.
