Have your say on improving rec boating infrastructure in Victoria

We are encouraging boaters and boating facilities managers to have their say on improving boating infrastructure management in regional Victoria as part of a consultation launched today.

The online consultation, which will be open until Wednesday 3 June, presents a summary paper that identifies the current limitations facing regional Victoria and short survey to capture feedback from the boating community. This consultation is part of a review the Victorian Government committed to in March 2019 under its $47.2 million recreational boating reform that also includes: removing parking and launching fees at public boat ramps, upgrading six boats ramps at priority locations across Victoria, and establishing the Better Boating Fund.

The review began last year in two of Victoria’s busiest recreational boating waterways – Port Phillip and Western Port – and is now expanding into regional Victoria where the majority of the state’s recreational boating infrastructure is.

Deloitte have been appointed to conduct the review and a summary highlighting the challenges facing recreational boating infrastructure in regional Victoria has been prepared to enable a conversation with the boating community about how to make managing it better.

The feedback we receive from the consultation will provide valuable input into the process of informing better boating infrastructure management options across the state.

A report outlining the findings from the Regional Boating Infrastructure Consultation and the next steps in the review will be released in mid-2020.
